The best disposable camera apps, compared honestly.
We make DisCam, so it's first on the list. Everything we say about the other apps comes from their own App Store and Google Play listings, checked on 15 October 2026, so you can see what each one is really for.

How we chose
Every app here makes phone photos look like film or a disposable camera, was on the App Store when we checked, and is free to download. For each one we say what it's best at, how you pay and which phones it runs on. We've left out ratings and prices, which change often and vary from country to country.
DisCam: a disposable camera you develop yourself
DisCam works in rolls. Load 12, 24 or 36 shots with DisCam Pro (the free rolls have 5), then shoot an Instant roll, where each print develops in your hand, or a Disposable roll, where you wind on between shots and develop the roll when you're ready.
There are ten films, each with an Intensity and a Grain slider, plus a light leak, white, cream or black frames and a date stamp you can style. There's no account, no ads and no tracking, and your photos stay on your phone.

Dispo: photos with friends, every morning at 9am
Dispo's App Store listing says photos develop every day at 9am, and the app is built around taking photos with your friends. You can pay for a Dispo Max subscription and buy individual cameras. It's on iPhone only.
Huji Cam: one look, straight from 1998
Huji Cam, made by Manhole, is one of the best-known retro camera apps, and its listing promises photos "just like the year 1998". It's free with ads, and a one-off in-app purchase removes them and unlocks importing photos. It's on iPhone and Android.
NOMO CAM: a shop full of cameras
NOMO CAM's cameras come from its Shop, and after you take a picture each one adds random analog presets, from grain and dust to light leaks and frames. Some cameras have a development time, which NOMO PRO, a yearly membership, can turn off. It's on iPhone and Android.
Dazz Cam: a toolbox of camera styles
Dazz Cam is inspired by classic film cameras from the 80s, with formats from 35mm and half-frame to instant and disposable, plus digital and video camera styles. It has manual controls such as ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation. Dazz Pro unlocks all cameras and accessories, as a subscription or a one-off purchase. It's on iPhone and iPad.
1998 Cam: over a hundred film stocks
1998 Cam lists over 100 film stocks with dust, grain and light-leak overlays, a date-time stamp and retro video effects such as VHS and Super 8. Its listing promises "no waiting, no darkroom". Premium comes as a subscription or a lifetime purchase. It's on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android.
Kuji Cam: retro effects, last updated in 2021
Kuji Cam adds retro filters, light leaks, timestamps and frame effects to your photos, with a Kuji Pro membership for all its features and paid materials. Its App Store listing was last updated in October 2021, and its privacy label lists location and identifiers as data used to track you. It's on iPhone and iPad.
What about Gudak Cam?
Gudak Cam, the app that made you wait 72 hours to see your photos, wasn't on the App Store in the UK or the US when we checked. If you miss the wait, DisCam's Disposable rolls and Dispo's 9am reveal are the closest things to it.
Which one should you pick?
It depends on what you want the app for. Our short answers:

- Collecting cameras and being surprised by each photo: NOMO CAM.

- The most film looks, and retro video too: 1998 Cam.
